Basadi in Music Awards celebrates a total of 37 winners
The second installment of the Basadi in Music Awards went down successfully this past Saturday at the Joburg Theatre. Hosted by the seasoned media personality Unathi Nkayi, 29 category winners were unveiled on the celebratory night under the theme African Royalty Affair & Sneakers.
The awards ceremony, spearheaded by media maverick Hloni Modise-Matau, are solely focused on celebrating women within the music industry in their varying influences from journalists to music executives.
Amongst the night’s winners, Lwah Ndlunkulu secured the evening’s top honours by clinching both Artist of the Year and Song of the Year accolades, the latter for her mesmerising collaboration Ithuba with Siya Ntuli while 27-year-old Noluthando Ngema from Ndwedwe earned the inaugural Nando’s Emerging Artist of the Year distinction.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipients were Letta Mbulu, PJ Powers, and Angelique Kidjo, who were celebrated for their outstanding contributions to the world of music.
