Airwaves to Turntables: Msakazi Ventures in to DJing
Orange Farm-born Nompumelelo Mlambo, a young, successful face in the entertainment industry is carving a name for herself in the cutthroat industry of Johannesburg and making huge strides towards household-name status. Affectionately known as Msakazi, the award-winning Metro FM radio host and presenter is now taking her talents over to the turntables. With a knack for unearthing undiscovered talent and bringing them to the fore, Mpumi now takes it upon herself to rock music sets across clubs and festivals all over SA.
The decision to venture into DJing comes as no surprise whatsoever. With over 11 years in radio, Mpumi’s journey in radio has always been underpinned by the love for music. Inspired by Black Coffee, Zakes Bantwini, DJ Kent, Culoe de song, Fistaz Mixwell, to mention a few, their music would form the bedrock for what would be Mpumi’s love for music and broadcasting.
While pursuing her degree in psychology, Mpumi enrolled herself in DJ Zinhle’s academy where she sharpened her skills and improved on the foundation she already possessed. Her deep background in house music makes the genre her first choice of music for her sets.
Mpumi Mlambo is no stranger to new challenges and facing obstacles. A natural-born entertainer and an enthusiast of the arts, we can guarantee that she’ll be masterful at what she does next.
