A commanding Pop anthem by Whitney April ahead of International Women’s Day, “Fighters”
South Africa has produced some of the globe’s most iconic musicians such as trumpeter Hugh Masekela, singer Miriam Makeba, and rock star Dave Matthews. As the Rainbow Nation’s post-millennial population comes of age, there’s a new voice arising from among them to represent a new generation of creatives, Whitney April.
The Cape Town born singer, today, releases a sonic declaration in the league of Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ just ahead of International Women’s Day.
‘Fighters’, Whitney April’s second single release, preceded by her 2022 release ‘The Prayer’, sets to empower listeners of all ages and backgrounds, with young women at the center focus.

The song kicks off with a pounding drum beat that also serves as a triumphant call-to-action. ‘Fighters’ hits the ears with affirmations that speak to the challenges of everyday life in the 21st century with a promise that things will get better.
“If I made it, you can make it too,” Whitney April proclaims in her bright vocal tone on the commanding Pop anthem, that is sure to birth a new generation of confident, inspiring warriors.
“Releasing fighters for me means more than just putting out another song. The message of the song is so powerful and I hope that it speaks to and uplifts anyone who listens. I want people to know that whatever they’re facing they are not alone and they will make it through. It’s a song that personally touched me, every time I sing it, it’s like a declaration that I’m more than a conqueror and that I can overcome anything,” shares the 26 year old.

The viral tiktoker gained popularity during the Covid lockdown era, with acapella renditions of songs such as ‘Part of Your World’ from Disney’s animated film ‘The Little Mermaid’, Hillsong Worship’s ‘Here I Am to Worship’, and Adele’s ‘Easy on Me’ – which have earned millions of streams.
With this success, Whitney April is readying herself to release her debut EP with Arete Records, under the international management of Wade Jordan – manager of GRAMMY® Award winning R&B singer and Maroon 5 keyboardist PJ Morton. Whitney April is poised to impact people of all ages.
