Monea Opens Up About Her Toxic Relationship With Swindler Ex-Fiance Phiwe Maphanga
Songstress Monèa recently set social media abuzz after posting a video in which she detailed how she was swindled and abused by her ex-fiance Phiwe Maphanga. Taking to Instagram on Friday, 19 August, Moneoa detailed a twisted story of manipulation and abuse – among other things. Her first post in a series of three videos was a disclaimer in which she contextualised the situation by stating: “I’m gonna share something with all of you that has not only weighed stress on my heart and mind for over 5 years now but has also inconvenienced my life in ways I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I can’t stand that it’s come to this but unfortunately, I feel that I’m left with no other choice. I want to clarify that I don’t hate Phiwe Maphanga but I now realise that his refusal to cooperate in this matter has nothing to do with any difficulties he has with resolving it.”

Thereafter, Monèa went live and shared how Maphanga allegedly ruined her life professionally and financially. According to the songstress, Phiwe Maphanga was a swindler with no home or defined career, and he coerced her to leave her record label for one he would establish for her – only to later swindle her from booking fees and releasing her album without her knowledge. She further stated that Maphanga physically assaulted her and left her with debt over two cars, a BMW and a Range Rover. This allegedly resulted in her losing her apartment and subsequently needing mental help to recover from the trauma and substance abuse caused by these events.
After Monèa’s claims, social media investigators revealed that Maphanga, at the time of all these events, was allegedly still married to Gauteng ANC deputy provincial secretary Tasneem Motara. The alleged swindler has not made any comment regarding the claims.
There has been an outpour of success for Monèa on social media with fans asking event managers to book her and help revive her career.
