Acclaimed entertainer Thembi Seete & renowned musician JR announced as judges for Idols SA’s upcoming season
All-round veteran entertainer and well-known musician JR have been announced as the new judges for South Africa’s popular singing competition, Idols SA.
The pair are set to replace the competition’s long-term judges Unathi Nkayi and Randall Williams – whose contracts were not renewed for the upcoming season. M-Net’s director of local content, Shirley Adonisi attributed this fact to the channel’s desire for a “fresh approach” with regard to this season of the competition, thus replacing Nkayi and Abrahams
Thembi Seete and JR are set to join media personality Somizi Mhlongo on the judging panel, with the competition’s longstanding host, rapper Proverb hosting the season.
Idols SA audition video submissions closed on the 5th of February, and the competition is set to premiere on television in July of this year. With the announcement of new judges, fans of the competition are expecting nothing less than a freshness and vibrancy for this season.
