Former Advocate Malesela Teffo Alleges that Kelly Khumalo Shot Senzo, Kelly Khumalo Fires Back At Accusation
The latest edition of controversial podcast Podcast and Chill helmed by MacG and Sol Phenduka turned heads and got people talking once again about the long-running Senzo Meyiwa case, which has been going around in circles for years. The episode’s guest ex-advocate Malesela Teffo dropped scandalous allegations on the show concerning the case, claiming that the slain Bafana Bafana goalkeeper’s death wasn’t not an accidental death but one singer-songwriter Kelly Khumalo was the cause of.
Teffo, before being formally disbarred in September 2022, was an advocate in the high-profile case. Since his disbarment, the ostracised former legal practitioner has tried returning to the case, including court appearances in which he showed up to court despite being disbarred under the guise of acting as a representative of Meyiwa’s brother.
During the explosive interview, an odyssey of Teffo’s own life story and journey, MacG asked him what he thought happened on the night that Meyiwa died, to which Malesela expressed his reservations about labelling Senzo’s death a botched burglary.
Check out the interview of the show:
“They say there were intruders, then the intruders shot Senzo by mistake, for which I cannot believe that the intruder that purported to be the robber, who said bring your phones and your money and everything, just so happened to shoot Senzo. I wouldn’t say it was a mistake. Because when an intruder or a robber comes to rob, there’s an intention. […] So, if Senzo was shot by mistake, then the person who was the shooter wasn’t the robber. It must be someone who was there and had a gun and shot Senzo by mistake,” he said.
Malesela also spoke about his thoughts on the group of five who are accused of the murder, alleging that their hands were clean and unstained from the bloodshed.
“What I can tell you for sure is that those five guys are innocent. They’ve got good alibis. […] These five guys who are there, considered to be killers of Senzo, are being scapegoated,” he said.
After MacG pressed Malesela for his version of events, he interpreted Senzo’s death as being caused by “Empini” hitmaker Kelly Khumalo. He also gave a reconstruction of what he thought happened before, placing Longwe Twala and Zandi Khumalo in the mix and citing that the former was suspecting that someone in the house where Senzo got shot allegedly wanted to take his place in Zandi’s life as they were dating at the time. Malesela’s version of events framed Senzo’s death an accident in which Kelly apparently had a hand in.
“Senzo was allegedly shot and killed by Kelly [Khumalo], where it was alleged that it was a mistake,” he said.
Kelly fired back at the allegations made against her with a video in which she rebuked Teffo, although she didn’t mention him by name.

“Enough is enough. It stops here, and it stops today. I’m not going to be diplomatic about this. I am not going to release press statements. I am not going waste money hiring lawyers to speak on my behalf. Udoti nje udoti. If you strongly believe that I am capable of what you are accusing me of, very simple: come and get me. It’s that simple. I’m not above the law. But I think I’m at the point where I am enough of you people dragging my name through the mud. It stops now,” she said.
