Musa Khawula Denied Bail at the Fochville District Court for 2021 Hit-and-Run Case
Controversial blogger and gossip monger Musa Khawula was denied bail in his latest court appearance at Fochville District Court. Consequently, his trial has been pushed back to the 22nd of May 2025, with the case resuming at the very same court room.
Khawula appeared in court on Wednesday, the 23rd of April 2025, on the basis of a hit-and-run incident that took place in early 2021. Although his day in court didn’t directly touch his case of Crimen Injuria against businessman Ze Nxumalo and his wife and former Miss SA, Tamaryn Green-Nxumalo, the circumstances surrounding the case and Musa’s past violations factored into the judgement and Khawula being denied bail.

The self-styled Gossip Girl of Twitter (now known as X) was denied bail on the back of defamation case because of injurious tweets he posted of Nxumalo, alleging that he was being unfaithful to Green-Nxumalo. After having charges pressed against him and appeared at the Johannesburg High Court, where he was ordered to pull back the statements he posted on the platform.
Khawula not honoring the court’s request subsequently led to him being arrested. While the 33-year-old did eventually delete the posts from his X account, the charges of Crimen Injuria still remain on him to this day.
Owing to Musa’s record of dishonouring the law and thus breaking bail conditions while still outside, the court in Fochville denied the mercurial journalist bail.
This is a developing story.
