“Social Media Is Not Kind”: Mzansi Stands Behind Skeem Saam Actress Innocent Sadiki After Suffering the Loss of Her Home

Tragedy struck actress and content creator Innocent Sadiki with the multi-talented star suffering the misfortune of losing her home on the 1st of July 2024. Sadiki and her family’s homestead was in Fourways, Johannesburg.”

The Skeem Saam actress posted a video of herself with her face buried on her husband’s chest, crying inconsolably as he tried to comfort her. The scene in the video was misted thickly with smoke billowing from the house consumed in flames. The video also depicted the gutted house after the flames had been put off by firefighters on the scene, the house now standing without a roof and windows.

Sadiki captioned the clip with the words: “From what we called our Home, we now have NOTHING! Our House burnt down today. Lord, you are still our God. We are shuttered [SIC]. We thank God none of us are injured. Prat for us PLEASE!!”

Following the loss of their home estimated to be worth R3 million, Innocent took the time to thank everybody for their prayers, donations, and contributions, while also singling out veteran actor Tumisho Masha for helping out the family and getting their children pyjamas for the night, since nothing was spared from the wrath of the flames. Sadiki shared her gratitude on Instagram:

“Let me take this time to thank our followers, friends and family for your support and kindness. We are literally starting from zero. The response has been overwhelming. We appreciate and love you. We managed to get pyjamas and toiletries for the kids thanks to our friends. Please keep praying for us. One day at a time.

“Isaiah 43:2(NKJV)
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you,” she wrote on her Instagram following the fire.”

Tweeps on X took some time to share their thoughts on the tragic misfortune, with some empathising, whilst others remained reserved on their thoughts.

@Ketso28 sympathised with the family, saying: “The only wrong thing that Innocent Sadiki did was to love and take content. But their house did burn down and I hope the[y] manage to recover it all.”

@missMokay offered the family words of encouragement through Bible verses in a passage within Joel chapter 2. The caption read: “Hold on mamas” with a white heart.

@SimplyIvy29 said: “Social media is not kind shem I feel bad for Innocent Sadiki and Milli coz they’re good people. I don’t agree with Inno posting her house burning but the comments and quotes? Wild!! People do not have any humility left in them.”
