Nelli Tembe’s Passing Shocks Public
The passing of 22 year-old Anele “Nelli” Tembe has sent shockwaves throughout social media after her family confirmed her death on 11 April 2021.
While most details of her untimely passing are merely rumoured, it can be confirmed that Tembe died t at Pepper Club hotel, in Cape Town after falling from the 10th floor of the building.
Witnesses reported that they heard a loud thud to the ground after hearing a scream. They then heard the voice of a man shouting. Nelli was declared deceased on the scene after sustaining polytraumatic injuries, according to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.
“Cape Town Central police are investigating an inquest case after an incident at a hotel this morning at about 07:45 on the corners of Loop and Bloem Street, Cape Town CBD where the body of a 22-year-old woman was found deceased,” said SAPS spokesperson FC van Wyk said.
Part of the statement from the Forbes and Tembe family read: “It is with the deepest regret that we, the Tembe and Forbes families, confirm the untimely passing of our beloved fiancée, daughter, sister and daughter-in-law, Anele Tembe, 22. Anele tragically passed on in the early hours of this morning, Sunday, April 11, 2021.“
Fans came to know Nelli after public knowledge about her romantic relationship with rapper Kiernan Forbes (AKA), started growing in early 2020. The rapper often gushed about Nelli online and even made the news of their engagement public this year in February. The two had been reportedly dating for just over a year.
“We are still in shock and are dealing with our emotions, as she was an exceptional and gifted young woman, with so much life ahead of her. She had a sweet nature about her and was always nurturing to those around her. Her fiancé, Kiernan Forbes, is currently inconsolable and is surrounded by family and closest friends. At this hour of our grief, we humbly request that our families be given privacy and time to heal,“ the statement continued.
Fans and celebrities like Lasizwe, Boity Thulo, Major League DJz shared their condolences and support to the Forbes and Tembe family online. The family has also asked the public to grant them “privacy and time to heal” during the difficult time.
