Forbes Family Statement Regarding Melinda Ferguson’s Forthcoming Book “When Love Kills”

On 11 April 2024, Melinda Ferguson, under NB-Uitgewers/Publishers, teased the existence of a book on slain rapper AKA and his late former girlfriend Anele Tembe on a Facebook post with the cover reveal as well. The book is titled When Love Kills.

“I have never worked harder on a book. I have never been more freaked out by a story. I have never kept a secret like I have this one, but the news has just been leaked on social media ….So here it is from the fire horse’s mouth. My new book will hit the shelves next week… it’s been a real journey to get this out. It nearly killed my own relationship.” Melinda wrote on her page.

Marketed as a nonfiction account, When Love Kills is blurbed as “the devastating story of the hip hop whose highly public life unravelled after Anele Tembe plummeted to her death.”

The Forbes family, however, have come out and denied having anything to to with the book, releasing a statement of themselves “distancing ourselves from the contents of the book.”

“We are not in any way associated with Melinda Ferguson’s book and we do not endorse it. In the same breath we distance ourselves from the contents of the book.

“When Melinda reached out to us, we respectfully and rightfully declined to contribute to her book.

“At this stage we cannot give any further comment on the book as we are unaware of its contents. We do however find the intended publication of the book and the timing distasteful and opportunistic.

Tony and Lynn Forbes”, the statement read.
